World on Fire

The historical epic presents an interesting take on exploring the effects of war through the eyes of normal families that endured it.

80 years ago, Europe very quickly found itself tumbling into another all-consuming fight. This conflict then escalated into the Second World War, barely 20 years after the ending of the previous World War. The new drama on BBC One – World on Fire – is an impressive portrayal of how ordinary people were enveloped in the tragedy of conflict as much as the soldiers who stood and tried to protect them.

Let’s enjoy the drama on our televisions as the stories unfold, whilst also remembering the thousands of civilians and military personnel, many part of our own families, who came under fire and played their own part in the very real World on Fire.

World on Fire airs on Sundays at 9pm on BBC1
